JellyFish Pro Integration
JellyFish Pro is a specialist editor from Planet Squires, designed specifically for PowerBASIC developers. It is exceptionally small and fast, and has been designed to integrate with Lynx from the outset. Of course, other fine editors such as TextPad and UltraEdit already work well with Lynx, but JellyFish Pro now has the edge, thanks to the following features -
Lynx and JellyFish Pro have a jointly-developed messaging interface, which makes JellyFish Pro extremely responsive to Lynx commands - noticeably more so than with most other editors. Much of the time, JellyFish Pro's response will seem instantaneous. |
You can insert clips of text from Lynx directly into JellyFish Pro. This is achieved by setting up tools on Lynx's Tools tab, making use of the new CLIP.BAS tool available from our download page. Text clips can range from simple |
When you use JellyFish Pro with Lynx, if you position the cursor on a procedure name in the editor, you can press F6 to go directly to the code for that procedure. Press SHIFT+F6 to return to where you started. This is a fantastic feature, and once you start using it, you'll wonder how you ever managed without it. |
When used with JellyFish Pro, Lynx 'remembers' the last position in a file across sessions - great for when you re-open your project. |
When compiling from Lynx, JellyFish Pro can automatically save all open files for you first. This is a selectable option available within Lynx. |
When you load a new project into Lynx, JellyFish Pro can automatically close all previously-open files for you. This is also a selectable option. |
When used with Lynx, JellyFish Pro automatically puts itself into Lynx Mode. This means that its internal project management and compilation features are deferred (disabled) in favour of those already present in Lynx. Thus JellyFish Pro acts as an 'editing slave' for Lynx, complementing Lynx's extensive project management and compilation features. |
Keyboard compilation commands CTRL+F5 (Compile) and F5 (Compile and Run) become available for the active file in JellyFish Pro). In addition, it doesn't matter whether Lynx or JellyFish Pro has the focus when one of these commands is issued - the command is always passed back to Lynx. The same happens with CTRL+F8 (Compile project) and F8 (Compile and Run project). |
( Note : Certain of the above features require you to be using the latest versions of Lynx and JellyFish Pro) |
